Afternoon Sketching @ DPC

DPC or the Dadar Parsi Colony was developed under British rule as part of the Dadar-Wadala-Sion Scheme of 1899 – 1900. It is an un-walled and un-gated colony and happens to be the largest Zoroastrian enclave in the world. Its purpose was to de-congest the main city that was located in the South Bombay area and to create hygienic living spaces for the citizens. This was timed around the outbreak of the bubonic plague in the city. Officially, this colony is known as Mancherji Joshi Parsi Colony, in memory of its founder. He was a civil engineer and the person behind the conception and development of the area.

There are several structures here that belong to the Art Deco and Neoclassical styles. Some of the elements from the buildings are sketched below:
